It’s easy really. Other than having a soul, it’s because when the Nazis had our people in ghettos, when we were sent to death camps, when we asked for help and nobody listened. We know what it’s like to be begging for someone to listen. Because we know what the pain of loss, of starvation, of losing your home, of being mocked and dehumanised and othered feels like. Because we know that no life is above anothers.

I know this makes the anti-voting fandom big mad but this is only happening because Murphy was re-elected by a thin margin in November 2021, bucking a 40 year trend of Democratic governors losing re-election in NJ, because enough people voted for him

Today marks 6 years since a man who had openly expressed such violent desires took 17 innocent lives in Parkland, FL, just 20 minutes from my home. I know some of the survivors because of my own history having been at Pulse. My wife knew one of the victims because she grew up right here. He used to teach at her school when she was in high school, and died a hero trying to save lives.
Today marks the last anniversary before that building is torn down and gone forever. I imagine there are mixed feelings about this in the community, as the debate regarding the future of the site of the Pulse shooting continues. I myself was once of the mindset that it should stay, but no longer feel this way. It has been long enough; sooner or later we must move forward.
I know that today is a holiday, but I ask that you spare a minute or two today to look into causes like Change the Ref, and donate if you can.
I especially like Change the Ref because their focus is on the NRA, not on making guns the problem themselves. the NRA is cartoonishly evil, and should not be in charge of fuckall.
guns don’t kill people. “people” don’t kill people. men kill people. men are overwhelmingly the problem. why pretend otherwise?
Its founder, Manuel Oliver, lost his son Joaquin. If you don’t know much about Manuel, please look him up and check out some of his work. He is a total badass and has devoted his life to his cause. He’s amazing to talk to, just to have met him is really such an honor.
